You know what...I’m just going to call it what it is...Chapter 32...
2217 words, of what was meant to be a short, snappy conversation.
The trouble is, this is THE most verbose character in the story, and his father, and it runs in the family.
And I signed up to enter my first regional fencing comp. I am going to get my butt so sorely kicked, I might as well be going into the venue with a ‘kick me’ sign in neon tape on my butt, and when they finish with me, the bruises will read ‘kick me’.
On the one hand, I don't like my villain. They're a piece of work that my world would be better off without. On the other hand, they're probably the best character I've made and I really like writing their lines. They're so satisfying. I might actually cry when I write their death scene. :( Goodnight, sweet prince, goodnight, and good riddance!
Writing folk, does anybody else get this awful feeling of crushing paranoia that all your writing is actually just a series of conversations joined together by mood-making or dispersing transition scenes?
Chapter 26...50% done, on to do 27
4167 words today. Not bad going. I think...I might cut this chapter here, and come back to it to fill in the other point of view.
I’m going to focus and finish this POV first then double-back. It’s a bit of a gamble for me seeing as I don’t have the best history of writing non-chronologically, but since I’ve got my head stuck in this side of the story for now, this is what we’re going to try.
Chapter 28...
Is technically...done.
Now, do I go back to 25 and fill in Location 2′s storyline, or continue on to Chapter 29 with Location 1...
I’m going to keep going with Location 1 and change POV.
Riiiiight, time to make this Midwinter solstice do utterly meltdown.
Chapter 27
3722 words, an odd bit of writing, kind of a final lull before the storm hits. I don’t know how effective it is, but it was fun to write what is essentially fantasy patisserie preparation.
