An interest, a desire, and an experiment to try to help the environment one less wasted paper napkin or towel at a time.
I ran into one of these stickers in the wild and was absolutely delighted by the idea. Turns out these folks have been doing what they call a "guerilla public service announcement" since 2009 and I've only just heard about them.
The idea is that people can buy stickers and post them on paper towel and napkin dispensers. Most folks do actually care about conserving trees when prompted to think about it, so the stickers give a mental nudge to use the minimum amount of paper products necessary.
I feel like this idea could be applied to a lot of other environmental behavior changes. Just a gentle reminder of where the things we use in our daily lives come from, so we can be a bit more grateful and judicious in using them. While individual action is not as important as community or government change, this is the kind of thing that can have a snowball effect in changing community norms.
I know I at least appreciated the reminder and also the knowledge that someone in my community had taken the time to put the sticker up.
