for a while, I thought that as I fell apart, you would always hold me tighter. you were my fastener, my anchor, my paper-clip made of sleek silver love, or so I thought. because when I lifted my gaze from that which I was transfixed on for too long (namely, you—) I saw the papers, scattered everywhere, like a storm of words put all out of order. and atop them, by the door, a paper-clip. bent out of shape by a little brother neither of us have. I am unfastened. I am free of your binding ways. I am a sheaf of papers blowing on a wind far away. I’ll leave you there, unbent, staring at papers and nothing.
