In our workshop we participated in group activities involving paper cinema and other experimental methods such as drawing on film and projecting it on a screen with the addition of a model in costumes to create interesting subject matters and imagery.
The shadows created were arranged to create unique imagery by combining our different paper cut outs, producing abstract figures and images. The use of multiple light sources created multiple shadows of the same object which created a illusion like visual effect.
The use of drawn on film projected onto a screen allowed for unique abstract imagery however it lacked a subject matter to focus on. Therefore a model was placed in front of the screen with a mask to add more depth to the photos. It also meant that the projection created interesting visuals on the model and mask.
We also had the idea of taking photos from behind the screen and use the model and other objects as shadow puppets which combined the two methods from before. This allowed us to create a narrative through the paper cinema with the addition of the aesthetically striking backgrounds due to the film creating a unique sense of visual personality.
