Though Papertwin tagged their new EP Vacation as “metal” on Soundcloud, don’t be fooled by their playful humor. The New Yorkers fabricate a nostalgic synthpop sound both dreamy and dark. In fact, they remind me of Neon Indian, Beach House, The Cure, and Washed Out, all at once, on gauzy Vacation, off which comes a riveting track named The Pool.
