Case Study: Erin Gilbert

This ghost was found in a small office in Columbia University. Though it had a tendency to venture into the large lecture hall nearby, it mostly spent its time floating aimlessly down the hallways, trying to impress people.

Despite its inability to speak up for itself, it still wore lipstick, likely to keep up appearances it had in life. Note the emptiness in the eyes and torso, suggesting a lack of personality and life fulfillment before an untimely demise. The lone heart has its own implications, likely a lost connection with a lover, or perhaps a dear friend.

Overall, the tired, dead look of the eyes, the exceptionally long limbs akin to a caricature of a supermodel, and carefully groomed appearance show that this ghost sought mostly to impress others in its lifetime, breaking more meaningful connections in the hopes of finding more superficial sources of approval. Parapschologists should learn from this specimen, and understand the dangers of trying too damn hard for people who, ultimately, are just a bunch of pricks.

Case Study: William Palmer

This ghost was located in a research facility at the southern tip of South America. Like many other class IV apparitions, it had an obsession reflected in the plantlike growths coming from its head. The ghost was accompanied by a distinct smell wherever it went, perhaps explaining its connection to plants. Further study has suggested that the presence of weeds indicates something invasive and unexpected as the cause of death.

Though the exact cause of death could not be ascertained, communication could be established with the ghost. It was able to tell its name, William Palmer, as well as location of death: Outpost 31, Antarctica. It also knew several other names and fragments of information, mostly pertaining to aliens. More specific information could not be obtained. The ghost’s memory seems to have been corrupted by something.

Update:

A rescue team was sent to Outpost 31 and retrieved two survivors. After treatment for frostbite and psychological evaluation, their reports of the death of their crew are as follows [redacted].
