It’s been a long month after visiting his mother, and oddly enough, they find a rhythm. They continue to live together in rooms down the hall from one another even though Nix considers getting a different apartment. It feels odd to live here, even though this house is his.
Oscar came to live with him. And like he figured; he used his key when Nix was under the water with Cecil, gathered up his things and left the key on the kitchen counter.
Nix found it when he got home...and didn’t know how to feel. Is it right to be heartbroken when you’ve done the breaking? He isn’t sure. None of this is fair. He’s caused a lot of problems--even after five years of breaking up. He put the key in his pocket, kept it there for a week and then gave it to Cecil.
Even though the young demon doesn’t really need a key to get in, it’s the thought that counts. Cecil is a part of his life now, a part of his house, his roommate, his friend; they’re moving on together.
It’s time they start acting like it.
So yeah, he’d like a new place but it’s not in the cards right now. Maybe he can make this place theirs again in a different way. Most of the time he just decides not to think about it.
He sighs as he pulls his car into the driveway of his place, turning the engine off. A yawn slips out of his lips as he stretches, arms over his head, cracking his neck. Rough day at the aquarium but worth every second.
A mother shark had babies and he had to help with delivery--or well, he didn’t have to help...usually run of the mill workers weren’t allowed to help higher ups like that, especially doctors who came to check on their fish. But the mother shark was so calm when Nix went to visit her...that the doctor insisted on him staying.
The doctor couldn’t believe the difference between when Nix was around the tank and when he wasn’t...but what could he say? He just had that effect on sharks.
Nix pushes open the front door and throws his keys into a small dish on one of the coffee tables before taking his jacket off. Fuck, it smells good. Cecil is cooking something...thai from what he can tell. Must be following a recipe as close as he can because the kid fucks up pasta.
“Whatever you’re making smells amazing...”
He turns the corner and pauses. Oh. It’s Cecil alright but he’s...in a long white lace skirt that Nix bought him and a red bralette. Jesus. He didn’t expect him in that.
Usually when Nix finds Cecil at home he’s wearing oversized sweaters or something of Nix’s that he’s let him borrow; warm and comfy and long. This is not that at all.
“You look...” He leans against the doorframe. “Wow.”
