Christmas. Now this is the season for living. Tobias had been under the Unseelie for so long, most time it was dreadfully boring and utterly dangerous, but Christmas time is always that moment that merriment is abound. Back then when he was younger, he believed in the same way that his family of those with sight believed, Winter Solstice, the start of the celebrations and beliefs when the days turn darker faster and longer than the light. As he grew older, the beliefs stayed yet the customs showed more towards Christmas. Years and years of this made Tobias embrace them both on a whole, even if the Solstice was the main term for the season.
At the exact midnight of December first, human time obviously, he would already start small preparations for the solstice, food, decorations, even gifts. Of course this time, it would be harder to give gifts to those he wanted to, given that the border cairns were closed and he cant very well get things from the human world that mattered. Still, he would try to find a way. It was the season of giving after all.
Not even by breakfast time, he had already created quite a place for himself with the things he found laying around the castle. Colored paper, enchanted items, other trinkets and rope. What was missing now though, was the tree. This time, he headed out of the castle, blinking as everything seemed... brighter and did he just taste the air? Looking around he noticed the fae easier, as if they were near him and he could feel them, just feel them without looking. Another moment came and when he looked up, rays of light decorated the early morning sky, still slightly dark. A mark of the longer nights and shorter days.
Without warning, he sped through the Forts to find Avery, intent to have him see the lights outside. He felt different somehow, much more energized, his steps more accurate. It felt really good to not feel as if he hadn't spend the early morning moving and making a fuss.
Right in front of the fae's door, he knocked. "Avery?" He called out, slightly louder, the other faes seem too busy to pay him much mind allowing him to call out a bit louder. He was aware the Unseelie were more powerful at the winter times, but apart from that, there was little to mind. Tobias had lived with the Unseelie more years than he bothered to care to count but he wasn't going to care when there was a whole lot more than just Winter to check out.
"Avery hey, open up! Can I please request for your presence... sleepyhead." He called the last part much softer than the other words. So much years have passed, he knew the fae had their own sleeping schedule but he really just wanted to add a jab here and there, the spirit of the holidays washing over him and giving him some joy.
