Crossroads || Anderbros
Blaine had always thought that there would be kind of white light waiting for him the day he died. That cliche of a tunnel, pearly white gates -- maybe a reaper holding his hand, guiding him to the other side peacefully. There had been enough lore and stories from people having near death experiences saying the same things that there had to be some truth to it, right?
Although, in hindsight that probably only was his annoying (as Dare so affectionately called it) optimism speaking -- because as Blaine laid there with a knife wound to the chest, breathing painful and becoming more difficult by the second -- he saw no light. Only darkness creeping in with the sound of his twin's voice pleading with him to keep his eyes open and to stay with him.
Darius' voice so full of anguish and pain that Blaine was glad he couldn't focus his vision to see tears streaking down his brother's face. Darius didn't cry. He was too strong and too tough for that -- it was too much of a chick flick thing for him but Blaine could swear he felt the warm droplets rolling down his cheek as he cough harshly. "D-Dare...I'm... sor--" The darkness shrouded Blaine before he could say what he wanted to.
He was sorry for not listening to his older brother. For being that freak with the powers that killed their mother and lead to their father's obsession that eventually got him killed as well. He was sorry for being the weaker twin and for screwing up by getting himself killed because he was distracted. He hadn't been enough to finish Azazel and his minions or thwart his plan alone.
Blaine doesn't know how long the darkness lasted but it felt like a life time before he's bolting upright in the bed, gasping for air like he had been under water for too long. Instinctively he's patting himself all over to make sure his bits and pieces were still intact the distance memory of the describable pain in his chest distracting Blaine from the sounds of his own screaming and his brother right there. It took several minutes before his brain caught up with the rest of him, realizing that Dare was talking, attempting to calm him down. His voice pulling Blaine back and anchoring him. "Wha....What happened...?"
