Barely Human | Gale & Ezra
His chances of finding her are slim to none. Not knowing where his mistress is sets his teeth on edge, makes Ezra become reckless with his need to see her alive. Her home was the first place he went to after weaving through the alleys and houses, finding the door locked. He can’t see anyone through the windows, no one comes to his call. The idea she is gone makes his chest feel hallow.
Ezra sets himself loose on the streets, watching as humans draw arms, sees them ripped with bullets from enemy fire. He looks for her face among the dying, wolves brought out to the battle to die standing. Ultimately, he maneuvers into an alley to dodge a makeshift bomb, sees as fire consumes the car he took refuge by. It’s there, that chance favors him. Ezra looks down to see a bloody footprint left by someone who abandoned shoes. He only knows of one who frequently does.
His best hope is that she’s carrying blood instead of leaking it, his pace increases as he advances in his search. Ezra finds her at one turn, standing over a dying female hunter, looking as worse as the other ill wolves. His hands tremble with the shred of control he still maintains, amber slowly leaking into his hazel orbs as he reaches out for her wrist.
