The Storm | Godstorm
vivaciousmartie:
Martie had been having a quiet and lazy afternoon with an escort on the East Side when all hell seemed to literally break loose. She had noticed the darkening skies outside and had brushed it off as a mere storm coming in. Then the ground started to shake and she knew something was wrong, heard as things began to crumble around her. In her ten years in Covaire she had never experienced an earthquake, and there was a sense of unease she could feel in her stomach, as though things werenât over yet. She knew she couldnât stay at the house though, if nothing else she needed to get back to Le Bordel and see if there was any damage to her place.Â
She hadnât been outside very long before the storm had started, coating her clothes to her skin in a second, her hair heavy as it hang limply around her face. âShit.â She cursed, her sight suddenly limited in the downpour, only getting better for a second when lightning flashed across the sky and lit up her vision. She could hardly see but she ran as fast as she could, hoping that the storm would break otherwise sheâd have to give up and just find some cover for the time being. Then she ran straight into someone, sending her crashing to the ground at the impact. She ground her teeth together, the sting on her palms only adding to the sting of the rain against her skin. She looked up, barely able to make out features through the rain even as she tried to pull herself up. âEzra?â She yelled through the rain.Â
Her body forces his attention to the present, Ezraâs mind taunts him with his past, threatens to break his already unsteady composure. He cannot ignore the monster he feels looming. Quickly his eyes dart to the woman who fell to the ground, squinting as water continues to drip down his features to see who heâs crash into. He recognizes Martie, his attention dragged away once more to recognize as well the shadow of the Wolf. Ezra knows the monsters figure cannot be real but that does not stop the fear.Â
Swiftly, Ezra bends down and grabs Martieâs forearms, lifting her almost too quickly back to her feet. Then Ezra continues forward, only he keeps Martie in his grip, holding her too harshly. âThere is nothing that way, somethingâs happened,â thunder breaks loose and Ezra shudders as it announces the lightning that follows. He doesnât even know if she can hear him, but he canât stay here any longer and some part of him cares enough to stop Martie from heading into the city still surviving the earthquake and tornado.
