seven devils • rafael & stefanie
The past few hours had been agonizing. His meeting with Vince had set things in motion immediately, and he needed to get his head together. Fast.
Rafael was a smart man, so the second that he had walked out of Vince's office, he'd already begun to formulate the rest of the plan. Sure, Vince had done a lot of it, but there were still plenty of details that Rafael needed to figure out. Injecting her with morphine while she was putting up a fight wouldn't be easy. She needed to be taken out, but Rafael wasn't about to hurt her directly. So he'd called some of his old friends, ones who were actually doing something with their chemistry major, and asked for an assortment of chemicals. Chloroform was by no means easy to get a hold of, but Rafael had managed to do it without looking suspicious. How was he about to ruin a young girl’s life and act like nothing had happened?
Rafael had parked the van that Vince had given him in an alleyway, unseen. He wore black work boots and an over sized black hoodie. The mask was in his gloved hands. Gloves were essential. He couldn't risk leaving any DNA behind. He was in the shadows, smoking a cigarette by an empty dumpster.
Rafael pulled out his phone, sending her one last text. I'm here. It wouldn't be long before she arrived, too. Raf felt anxious. He was terrified. Stef was one of his best friends. His best friend. And he was about to ruin her life. He felt sick to his stomach.
Rafael knelt over on the side walk and felt all the fear build up in his throat. He vomited onto the side walk, emptying out what little was in his stomach already. "Fuck," Rafael breathed, closing his eyes momentarily. But then he remembered the photographs that Vince had. Of his brother. Of his mother. He cleared his throat, wiping at his mouth with a handkerchief that he had in his pocket. “Keep it together,” he told himself.
He saw Stefanie arrive, eyes on her phone.
It was time.
He slid the mask on and began walking towards her.
