for once in his life Bennett got lucky when he was reconsidered the last moment before i started writing this. everything just clicked.
Bennett needs you to remind him to take care of himself because he obviously doesn't do that enough. your attentive and observant habits really come in handy around him, and he can't stress enough how much he appreciates you :((
you cheer him up when he isn't having his greatest adventures, scold him for being careless and laugh with him when you return to Mondstadt with an ample loot. most of all, you stick with him despite the misfortune he carries with him.
Bennett is supportive, a boy full of positive energy and kindness. he hasn't had many peers to learn from however so it may take him some time before he understands you suppress you emotions at times.
nevertheless, he's there for you the moment he notices something's off. he can't always give great advice like you do, but he can give you all of his affection and take all the bad luck you have onto himself.
seriously, Bennett is clingy af too so expect him to give you all the hugs and kisses in the world. at first, he was really shy because he was afraid you'd be uncomfortable and his bad luck would rub off on you ;-;
but once you assured him you were clingy yourself he became like a puppy. not in an annoying "following you around 24/7" way but in a way that seeing you made his day and getting to hold onto you the highlight of his week. he just adores you and wants to be close to you!
because honestly, to have a blessing like you in his life feels like fate is finally on his side. naturally he'd always want to make sure you're still there and enjoy the moment.
he doesn't show it but Bennett is afraid of being abandoned too, although it has happened to him quite a few times already. he gets lonely. but he can trust you and you can trust him because neither of you want the other to experience that awful feeling.
you're enough for him. always have been and always will be because you are the lucky treasure he's been searching for.
caves are perfectly normal places for first meetings, i swear
you had heard of some interesting phenomena happening in one of the caves at Falcon Coast, and as a member of the Investigation team it was your duty to see what was happening.
it was your first time doing a job alone so you were really eager to make this a success.
but not even five minutes after you'd ventured inside you heard thuds and crashes from the direction of the entrance as the walls around you shook. . .
beacause the mouth of the cave had entirely collapsed. you tried your best not to be discouraged although the situation had just turned against your favour. you thought this was a trap or perhaps part of the supernatural activity happening here,
until you heard a voice shout from behind you. "are you okay? i'm so sorry! i didn't think there was anyone else in here!"
you had been okay until then but the loud voice started you enough to turn around too fast and fall.
Bennett hadn't meant for you to hurt your leg!! he hurried over to you with his lantern and checked up on you.
as he applied surprisingly skillful first-aid he introduced himself and explained he had also been investigating the cave, but on his own accord instead of the Adventurer Guild's.
he had just gotten rid of the source—a group of hilichurls and their shamans conducting experiments—but the explosion from his strike was too powerful. that resulted the situation you were in now.
he apologised profusely, feeling so so guilty for getting you caught up in his ungodly luck then hurting you on top of it (╥﹏╥)
you could see how badly he was beating himself up over it so you assured him what's done is done. waiting for help was the only thing you could do now.
so you waited, getting to know each other and telling each other stories to pass the time in the light Bennett's vision. neither of you felt hopeless because the other's positivity kept your spirits high ♡︎
help did eventually come and you got out the next day with newfound experiences and a new friend!
Bennett still feels bad about your leg so he won't tell you, but he's glad he got stuck in that cave with you. honestly, he had a crush on you ever since then...

for Bennett there is no use in overthinking because he knows things will go wrong for him one way or the other. but he tells you he has gotten through all of the experiences so far, therefore so will you!
so whenever you're with him you get this 'it'll work out somehow' feeling. whatever situation you may be facing you just know you'll make it through somehow.
although you're not technically an adventurer you still go out to do commissions with Bennett sometimes. it's so much more fun with you but he never insists you come along in case you get hurt.
when you do, Bennett confidently proclaims he won't let anything happen to you!! it does, at times, however, end up being the other way around: you pulling him away from a trap door, catching his lantern or even kicking the rocks from his path.
he adores it when you share your knowledge of biology with him, either when you're out venturing or just sitting in the library. some of it does go over his head though . . .
so he once did some research on his own to get a better understanding of what you like! he asked his dads at the guild for tips as well.
somewhere along the line he ended up getting romance novel recommendations because he wanted to impress you.
not that he minded because he needed all the help he could get, but the smooth moves he tried to mimic never succeeded. he either tripped, fell into a fountain or got too shy and awkward to keep going, aww
little does he know, however, that you gush over him whenever he's not around. Fischl is the one often listening to you talk about how sweet Bennett is.
half an hour later she listens to a blushing Bennett chatter non-stop on how much he loves you and how incredible you are.
but . . . you guys have been together for half a year now, just say it to each others' faces!
Bennett is used to his scars and getting new ones but the way you trail your fingers across them and say they make him look cool just sends him over the moon ♡︎
poor lad has tried taking you to Good Hunter a dozen times already and treat you to a delicious meal but every time the place just happens to be closed.
Bennett: heart. been. broken. so many. times💀
instead you end up enjoying a home-cooked meal in the sunset. not that bad actually hehe.
he wraps you in the blanket he brought along if you get cold too (´ ε ` )♡

call it weird, but it was the time he almost confessed to you. it had been a long day, Bennett once again covered in scratches and bruises. you were exasperated because he'd been trying to hide them from your gaze. "i can't help you treat them if you don't tell me anything," you'd sighed, lightly slapping a ban-aid onto his arm. Bennett sheepishly uttered an apology; he hated worrying you. but you didn't give up and insisted he'd tell you everything next time, accidentally leaning in too close as you told how important he was to you. Benny.exe stopped working for five seconds straight before he finally opened his mouth. yet by the time he'd thought this was the right moment to say his true feelings, you tied the last knot of his bandage and ran off in embarrassment. though sad you'd left, Bennett was now certain he'd found the most precious person to him. maybe he wasn't all that unlucky.

adventuring !! finding out new knowledge or discovering an unexplored area, you both find thrill in engaging in the unknown. Bennett has the practical stuff down to the core and you never cease to impress him with your wits. you find the bright side in the darkest of situations too. heck, you could find a single cabbage in a chest and cheer cause you can have cabbage soup for dinner. but yeah, days full of adventures and nights filled with stargazing as your fingers intertwine are Bennett's favourites ♡︎

oh my, Benny's so shy with kisses >//< i think the cheek is the furthest he can go and the thought of kissing your lips is too much for him to handle (he does imagine it tho👀 just so scared of messing up) he gives tiny kisses to your scars and moles, he thinks they make you so unique and pretty!

Benny boy doesn't understand the importance of nicknames. why'd he want to call you something else when you have such wonderful names? i just can't see Bennett using nicknames, unless they they're in front of your name like dear Pauline or my precious Helios. he gets carried away talking about you so it's rather likely he'll use them like that heheh.

hard to say. incredibly hard to say. your tolerance is somewhere up there though no doubt. deep down Bennett just wants to be accepted, and although no one in Mondstadt hates him, getting close to anyone is hard. not with you though—you give him all the love you have regardless of the consequences. it was what first drew Bennett to you and a big reason why he looks at you with those soft, smitten eyes.
