I wonder if, after everything that happened at the end of JJK, Yuji ever looked back and reflected on it all. Would he carry regret, guilt, or the thought that he could have done things differently? Sukuna’s reign of terror had been brought to an end, and though the two of them never truly saw eye to eye, Yuji still wished to offer him a second chance, even if he were the only person on earth to do so. That alone speaks volumes about Yuji’s character: his refusal to let go of compassion, even for someone as feared and reviled as Sukuna.
That is what I wanted to convey whilst simultaneously trying to depict Sukuna's legacy. Heralded as the strongest sorcerer in history his name endures like a myth carved in stone. Depicted through a huge statue of worship and a shrine gate dedicated to his name. But in the end, he fell. The once-grand statue now lies shattered in a pond, slowly being swallowed by the earth and reclaimed by time.
Yet within those ruins, where most would only see the remnants of history’s strongest and most evil sorcerer, there remains one person who gazes back and sees something different: the man who went north.
