Nautika went to Antarctica to discover secrets of her culture, lost her whole crew, starved and traumatized for days and committed unintentional cannibalism, watched her sister (figure?) die horribly in front of her very eyes, and found out her life’s purpose was nothing but a fat lie.
And what did she do? She didn’t give up. She could’ve done so and no one would blame her but she didn’t when it mattered most. She pursued the unknown for the sake of the unknown itself and died content. And when it truly mattered, came back, reconstructing her body using the flesh of the beast that ate her, and turned it into the form of the deity she and her people had worshipped forever.
She went to the edge of the world to find her Mother Spirit, found out she was never real, and ended up becoming the Mother Spirit itself. It’s fucking poetry.
