What and how we feel that, is what churns out personality after personality every single personal reality mesh as one seemingly separate but whole.

What experience is this, does my body experience me or the other way around?

What does it mean the make the lamp whole?

such a sentiment is one michael can only imagine his response to a decade ago. the michael of the past could never have understood ; too haughty & righteous. but time and isolation are the friends of rumination, & heaven’s viceroy has softened considerably.

eyes flicker downward — there is a momentary flash of disdain for how far he has fallen, but it’s understanding that washes it away. “i understand. everything is … different, now. maybe it has been for a long time. maybe i’m the last to notice.”

there is something about the way the words come across that partially stops his anger in its tracks. he doesn't like this. not in the slightest, but - the reason given is something that goes straight to his heart and it takes a second for him to comprehend it fully. i need to know what it felt like. falling.

I saw a post that reminded me of the brig and needed to share

son: I'm bisexual dad (after googling what bisexual is): oh yeah me too. you'd have a LOT more siblings if I only fucked women.

but i always headcanon that yates is the one who explained what a bisexual was to him. because the brig knew that his sexuality didn't fit into the category of straight or gay but had no clue that you could be anything but the two.

It wasn't out of the normal for River to knock and ring the bell until one of her parents answered - Polly and Ben had been the ones to raise her as their own, they were her parents - it always got to Dad but it was her 'adult' version of of tooting on her recorder she did as a child, so Mum found it charming. If not probably a tiny bit irritating when it went on far too long.

"Hey, Dad, like the new face," she asked after he opened the door. "Don't worry, I'm the same Mels - well, River now. It's a long story."

She smiled the way she used to when he'd be called to school after she got in trouble.

“i’m not mad at you.” michael furrows his adam’s their brows - an expression that must look rather endearing on a face so young-looking as his vessel. is that what gabriel had thought ? that michael was angry ? that michael might still nurse resentment’s flame, even after so long behind bars meant for the errant brother ?

it’s castiel’s words that echo out in their skull — that even in the before, he had been too haughty. michael daren’t dwell on the crass verbiage of the oak tree sentiment. its meaning is as clear as the winchesters’ expressions had been when he’d made known his attachment to his vessel: nobody ever expected michael to love anything. not really.

has time worn down gabriel’s memories of their youth enough that he, too, expects that little ? or, worse yet, has he always believed michael only held bitterness for his disappearing act ?

“i was never mad at you, gabriel. i was mad at lucifer. never you.” in all the years that have made up the eternity michael has lived, he can’t recall ( and as an archangel, he has perfect recollection ) having cried. laying eyes on his little brother after so long, he worries he might.
