selling a Paramore ticket!!
y'all I'm selling a ticket to the Paramore show on Wednesday, 9/13/2017 @ 7:30 PM. Its taking place at The Theater at MGM National Harbor. I've listed the ticket on stub hub and can send u the link/bring down the price if your interested !!! Unfortunately I can't go but know it'll be an amazing time 😫
Behind the scenes
So I feel like my posts have given off the impression that I’m basically living a vacation, which is only partially true.
While I HAVE been doing a bit of exploring, I’ve actually been consumed with job hunting more than anything. I’ve had 4 interviews in the past 3 days (which is a lot imo), and I’ve got another one tomorrow. All of which is amazing, except for the fact that I forgot I wanted to take some time to enjoy myself and get to see some of the city first.
In short, everything is happening a lot faster than I had anticipated job-wise and, on top of that, there are like a million other things happening in non-job aspects of my life, so I am very overwhelmed. Again, none of it is bad.... just exhausting!!
Here’s the long version / break down:
JOB - I’ve been working with a recruiter who has been lining up all these great opportunities for me, but none of them are actually in the city or even MBTA accessible. Honestly, my plan was to find a “non-career” job at a coffee shop or bookstore for a few months while I got to know Boston. But now that all of these jobs have come up, I feel like I can’t pass them up if they end up giving me an offer. People actually seem to be impressed with my portfolio (which I truly didn’t think was up to par yet). I know I interview well (#humblebrag), but I guess I’m just surprised by my potential competitiveness as a candidate. I mean.... no one has offered me a job yet lol. Anyway, more updates to come.
LIVING - This is only my 4th-ish day living here, so I’m still warming up to my new “roommates” lol. My cousin and his wife are super nice though.... e.g. Cathy invites me to join them for dinner every night. They’re a little quiet so it’s been a little slower getting to know them, and Alan has the weirdest work schedule so he sleeps during the day a lot, so I’m trying not to interrupt their routine. Maybe I’m being too polite (since they’re family and all), but I think we’re all starting to get used to each other. The cats are also adjusting to me. So far no major allergies on my part; I just make sure I wash my hands after petting them. The space itself is great. My room is huge, and I finally feel like I’m settling in here.
TRANSPORTATION - Okay, so I love having a car. I need it, I want it, and I’m going to use it. Public transit definitely has perks, and I plan on taking it to get around Boston (which is like worse than LA in terms of parking), but sometimes it’s actually less convenient. So for now I’m braving the crazy streets, and I actually don’t mind it at all. I take wrong turns all the time and I accidentally cut people off occasionally, but the people here are so nice (you’re probably going to hear me say that a lot) and courtesy driving is a real thing.
CAR - So about my car specifically.... I’ll have to take pictures later, but it’s an old beat up car which is perfect for me. It literally has duct tape covering up holes and stuff. I can’t figure out how to work the radio, so I’ve been listening to the only CD I have here. I bought it from the duo, Sister Speak, the night my sister went out in Cambridge. I’m starting to get really sick of it, so sometimes I just turn it off and listen to the whistling noise coming from the back of the car.
SOCIAL - I went to my very first Meet Up on Wednesday evening. It was a sort of networking happy hour geared towards 20′s-early 30′s with creative pursuits. It was really refreshing chatting with new people, making some connections, and getting free pizza and wine! Loved the space and the energy. Maybe because it was a Meet Up (and lot of people were actually from out of state), but I think the people on the east coast are more friendly and genuine. In Cali, someone will seem nice but I’m like... wait, do you actually hate me? So far, I don’t get that vibe here.
There are seriously so many things I could go on about, but I’m getting tired and I think that was a decent snapshot of updates (lol if not a tad excessive). I’m gonna leave personal notes of things/stories to remember in the tags, so if you’re curious about any of them, just ask me sometime and hopefully I haven’t forgotten by then!
