PARIS LIGHTS RADIO reflects the appreciation of Paris Lights of the deep house and electronica scenes in festivals and warehouses across Australia. Integrating their previous love of sampling, vocal chops and loops into the wide ocean of the electronic music genre in modern music.
The looped, instrumental nature of the music forges a familiarity to the music within the listener. This better allows Paris Lights to use the music as a platform for telling personal narratives, often incorporating film dialogue and spoken word samples into their work, inviting audiences to share in the messages of the music's journey.
Their two album releases, 2022's 'Club Nautico' and 2023's 'Majestic 2202', showcase the direction of their artistic compass towards the innovative percussion production styles of Madlib and DJ Muggs, while gentle soul melodies callback to Alfa Mist and intertwine with the complex musical structures of Richard Spaven, creating a unique sonic signature.
Initially, their creative spark ignited in the instrumental realm of hip hop production. But there always remained a desire to translate the intricate rhythms and stories of hip hop into a captivating performance experience. To share stories not just through the music, but through a captivating live presence.
Hailing from the coastal town of Port Macquarie, Australia, the musical journey of 28-year-old Nigel Malcolm aka Paris Lights began bathed in the rich tapestry of soul, funk, and the 60s psychedelic explorations, From prog rock's complexities to the infectious grooves of funk, Paris Lights absorbed a diverse range of influences growing up in a musically talented household.
