What is Science and its impacts?

Science is a wonderful thing that encompasses so many ideas and advancements into one big category. Science is a discipline used to explore and discover new things in the world. It is used to explain natural events so that we can know why they happen. Essentially, it is used to explain and advance our world. Science impacts everything. It leads to new technologies that my family and I use everyday. Science is behind the medicine I take before bed every night and the medicine my parents take every morning. If it weren’t for modern medicine I would’ve already lost both of my parents, one to cancer and one to heart disease. So, I am obviously very thankful for the technological advances we have because of science. Science impacts my daily life, it affects what foods I choose to eat and what clothes I wear when I go outside. If it is going to be cold then I have to put on a jacket before I leave my dorm, if it weren’t for thermometers and other weather related technology I would have to go outside and see what the weather was like before I choose what to wear in the mornings. My community is constantly impacted by science and the technologies it brings. New technologies bring new jobs and opportunities to the community. The community is allowed to grow, change, and prosper, because of all that science brings. Science can also bring about a divide in a community, since much of it is very controversial. Whether it is a battle of ethics or religious views, science has been known to ruffle feathers. It can make a community less peaceful and harm the relationships within the community. My generation will live longer than several generations ago thanks to science. In a sense my generation is a science experiment. We have been eating genetically modified foods for all of most of our lives, so through us the long-term effects of these GMOs may finally be discovered. So, although science has done great things for my generation, it may also being doing very, very bad things to us as well. Science has had huge impacts on our nation. If it weren’t for science we wouldn’t have had the industrial revolution, we would have poor sanitation, and poor health care. It has drastically improved the quality of life for our nation. It also gives jobs to countless people in our nation. If it weren’t for science I wouldn’t have a major! Science will have a huge impact on my future, since I plan to work in a science related field. It will impact my future job as well as my personal life. The more advancements we have to better medicine we will have, the more luxuries, and the more knowledge we will have about our lifestyles today. For example, we may finally figure out the effects that GMOs have on our bodies. We may learn that animal proteins aren’t as good for us as we once thought. Science impacts everything in my and everyone else’s lives whether that is good or bad and it will continue to do so.
