Only you, my girl, only you, babe - Steve Lacy Dark Red
Okay here is my pitch for OMITB Season 6: ghost hunters. There have been so many murders in this building that now every ghost-hunting team in the country wants to get their hands on it and document evidence of hauntings, and it's an obvious parody of the whole genre. So this could play out in one of two ways:
(1) A famous ghost hunting show that is a spoof of Ghost Adventures wants to film some episodes in the Arconia. The premise of the show is a husband and wife duo who visit haunted locations. They are played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. This is a blatant reference to The Conjuring, and the entire audience knows it, but the show never brings attention to it aside from maybe one or two jokes about them looking very familiar. Instead of acting serious like in the movies, this version of Parmiga gets to be as unhinged as they are in their irl interviews and they're so kooky it makes Oliver and Loretta look almost normal. They may or may not be the murderers
(2) Two rival ghost-hunting teams are fighting to film episodes for their respective shows in the Arconia. Their leaders are also played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Again, this is a blatant reference to The Conjuring, but the only joke made about it is something small like "weren't you guys married at some point" at which both of them get extremely offended because they are actually divorced and act like they hate each other. The roles are flipped in that Vera is the practical techie ghost hunter and Patrick is the psychic who is into a bunch of esoteric stuff. To make reference to Patrick's musical theatre background, he is also a former musical theatre actor and is even more of an overdramatic loser than Oliver is. One of his tactics to get the ghosts to talk to him is to start singing random songs, which becomes a running joke that everyone eventually gets pissed off at.
He is suspicious for the whole season but Oliver refuses to believe there's anything wrong with him because they've bonded over being musical theatre rejects. Anyway like I said he and Vera act like they hate each other because of their contrasting methods, but there's hints that they're actually still into each other. There are also hints that maybe the whole rivalry is an act to cover up something sinister and they're really just the paranormal investigator version of Bonnie and Clyde. They may or may not be the murderers
Basically I just need them being doofuses because I miss them and their chemistry is just too good to waste
