Do love birds eat grass? In the wild, lovebirds live in small flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses as well as seed. The Abyssinian, or black-winged lovebird, has a specialized diet that includes native figs, which is why they are so rare in captivity.

Can birds have wheat grass? Wheatgrass is high in iron so you don't want to overload your birds' diet with it. Three to four times a week is sufficient, and just a handful of grass is enough each time. Cut the grass about an inch up from the seed and serve.

The rosy-faced lovebird, also known as the rosy-collared or peach-faced lovebird, is a species of lovebird native to arid regions in southwestern Africa such as the Namib Desert. Loud and constant chirpers, these birds are very social animals and often congregate in small groups in the wild. ‘

The popular peach-faced lovebird exudes a big personality in a small body. Peach faces love their playtime and positive interaction with their people. A peach-faced lovebird has a “busy beak” and might be inclined to tear up strips of paper and weave them in the cage bars. 

Peach-faced lovebirds live about 12 to 15 years or more if well cared for. They are prone to nutritional disorders, so be sure to offer a highly nutritious diet, including fruits and vegetables. Since the females will lay eggs, even without a male around, there is the danger of calcium deficiency or egg binding.
