2018 was a very hard year for me and I'm not going to lie - I spent most of 2019 recovering from it. For the most part, 2019 treated me well. I am a boss for the first time and learning how to settle into that role. I spend a LOT of time worrying about disappointing people, but am trying to learn that I can't please everyone and that is okay. I lost one of my parrot children, which I am still struggling with on a regular basis. Paulie and Bastian are both buried in my garden and I still sing to them. I miss them with all my heart, but try to be as present as possible for the birdies who need me now. I began making toys in 2019 and people seem to actually like them, which is super exciting for me. I hope to make more little figures & hope people will enjoy them. 2019 has definitely been a weird balancing act. Trying to find work/life balance. Trying to be gentle with my mental and physical health. I have ehlers danlos, gi issues, asthma, chronic migraines, and a great depression/anxiety cocktail. Sometimes I can't be as active as I would like to be. I have to learn to be okay with that. My biggest 2020 resolution is to slow down and make time for myself to rest. I want to be a good wife, a good boss, a good parrot mama, and a good artist. All of those things take time and if I'm exhausted I won't do a very good job at any of them. I won't be taking very many commissions in 2020, because I find that the busier I am, the more I need my art to be for me, to help me heal and relax. I hope people will understand if I need to say no. I wish everyone a peaceful 2020. I hope you feel safe and loved. If anyone is wondering, the gray parrot is Loki and the red parrot is Bella. They were both adopted by us this year and we love them dearly. 🌿 #parrotmama #capeparrot #poicephalus #ecletusparrot #artistintroduction #meettheartist #meetthemaker #artvsartist #artvsartist2020 #artistresolutions https://www.instagram.com/p/B6yOaEwp-9u/?igshid=7wnalsie2erq
