Back on my not understanding Halo's smart AIs bullshit, because how did Chief not get at least a little bit fucked up from carrying Cortana directly in his brain during her rampancy? Even if she didn't directly mean to hurt him, she's still a fucked up process handling a shit ton of information at any given moment. Did Chief ever get thoughts that weren't his? Unrelated to what he was doing? To what was happening? Did he ever struggle with his own internal monologue because there was too much noise in his own head? Did he ever get carried away by emotions he didn't recognise only to realise they were actually Cortana's?

While we're on the topic of Halo 4 and Spartan Ops, I'll admit I had no clue while first playing through Halo 4 that "most" Halo fans hated Palmer, because I straight up just,,, did not clock that someone would read that whole "thought you'd be taller" comment as offensive or insulting. I still don't. To me it's always read as, you've been taught to view this guy as this godly sort of figure in the context you live in, like an untouchable hero doing hero things. And then you get augmented and meet him, and hey. He's just a little taller than you. Ain't that funny?

I don't know if maybe it's just because I don't get offended over heights in general in my own social interactions, but it never struck me as a comment Palmer was making to undermine Chief. On the contrary, it felt like she was trying to do exactly what Lasky did at the end, which is humanizing Chief. They're not putting him on a pedestal and kissing the ground he walks on, they're allowing themselves to treat him like he's a normal guy, because turns out, he still is! They're just doing it in different ways.

Honestly I don't even think Chief himself took that as an insult. Dude was probably just stunned for a moment that someone would just go up to him and say that.

Very sensitive about their own height lol #because I would absolutely just say the same thing to Chief. And I am nowhere near his height. I'd *still* expect him to be taller than #whatever propaganda poster made me believe he'd be #it's a dissonance thing I think. to some extent you expect heroes to be much more physically imposing than you #not to say the Chief isn't. Just remembered the first time I played Halo Infinite with my old laptop where the cutscenes kept breaking (graphics card couldn't handle the game) and just,,, gave me the most dead inside Fernando one could ever imagine

Gotta say, I'm not one for nitpicking in media I enjoy because it's not my thing. However, being a programmer AND enjoying sci-fi is a curse because inevitably I'll latch onto whatever small detail I can understand.

This is to say, as someone who's handled databases, the way Halo does the AIs' service/serial numbers stresses me out
