Part-Timers ll Jade & Lucas
Starter for @aemulatix
Jade heaved another hay bale on top of the others with a loud grunt, pausing to straighten her makeshift scarf-hairband. Even with its help, her hair kept trying to drift in front of her eyes, slowing her progress by a fair amount. It was for this reason she decided to check her C-Gear yet again once she was done with her hair. The sharp orange tint of her surroundings should have been enough to tell her all she needed, but she hoped the clock would have a more positive answer for her.
She grit her teeth once she saw the time, 8:35, glow back at her. No such luck.
“Come ON, guys!” Jade called to her Arcanine and Archeops, whom she caught lounging on the hay again when she looked up from her C-Gear. Chasing them off the hay, she put them back on their respective duties of herding the Mareep into the gate and stacking the hay. “You should know the drill by now; if we don’t get this stuff done before sundown, we don’t get to stay in the barn for the night!”
Picking up another giant hay bale from the field, she hurried it over to Motley for stacking as fast as her short frame could muster. Once she handed it off, she turned to run back for the next one when she caught someone standing at the gate. It wasn’t the Floccesy Ranch owners, and she hadn’t seen this person around Floccesy Town before.
“Hey!” She called out. “Are you here to stay in the barn for the night too?” She pointed to the setting summer sun behind her. “‘Cause if you are, you should probably hurry up and get some work in now before they make you work the whole day tomorrow instead.”
