"you should know by now, i’m not most people."
ship: tarot x bob for: @outfromthesea notes: i jhjhjfsf wanted to write this. it's alright. but pls love me anyway.
it's true. tarot's not like most people. much like yelena, she doesn't judge him in a way he feels he expects other people to judge him. more often than not, there's a sense of understanding in place of where the judgement should be. it sometimes frustrates bob, because he feels like he doesn't deserve it. like she deserves better than someone like him -- someone as complicated as him.
but he also knows that that's the other half talking. the voice he tries to ignore.
so, he's been tuning it out with the artwork that tarot's got him invested in. putting his negative thoughts and emotions into something constructive. and well, it's actually paid off, because he's actually finished a piece of art. a piece of art that looks pretty damn neat, too.
so neat, that — even when he's a little weary it might be a little too bleak to show to tarot at first — that he's looking forward to showing it to her anyway.
bringing her to say that she's not like most people, when he does tell her that it's a little dark and dreary. that the black paint he used for shadows, might come off as empty. or show that he's a little better at hiding how he's been feeling lately than he's willing to admit. that even though he says the void is quiet, that it still lingers, like…well…
…a void.
but when she looks at it his art, she smiles at him, wide. proving that she isn't like most people.
"it's great bob. powerful."
he shrugs with one shoulder. "thanks….uhm, i thought it was a bit much."
"no, i think it works. especially as a first piece." she pauses, looking at it, and then at him. "but again, you're not here for me to judge your art. you're here to find new ways to express yourself in a healthy way."
"honestly, this whole time, i just felt like …well…" he shrugs. "you know? not putting in the effort at all. not because of you, but because i just didn't want to be out. i don't hate it or anything, it's just, it's been a weird few months."
"makes sense, bob. it has been a very strange few months."
"i died, you know?" he blurts out. He doesn't remember dying, but he was told the story several times.
she nods. "i see."
"yeah, but it didn't take. and now i have ...friends now? and you?" he nods, too. gently shifting closer to her so that his shoulder is touching her arm. "wild."
