'Khalid Move' highlights certain similarities between PAS and Umno
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11, 2014:
The “Khalid Move” has destroyed the “Kajang Move” and has ushered in calamity for Pakatan Rakyat, Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin wrote today.
The “Khalid Move”, according to the former Information Minister, is Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s refusal to step down as the Menteri Besar despite his party, PKR, having reached a consensus to replace him with Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The “Kajang Move”, is the name given to a strategy that was to pave the way for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to become the next Selangor MB via the Kajang by-election.
Anwar was, however, disqualified from the contest after the Court of Appeal overturned his acquittal for sodomising his aide in 2008. Wan Azizah subsequently replaced him and became the Kajang assemblyman.
Zainuddin, in his blog today, also tipped his hat to PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution for exposing the internal strife within the Opposition coalition, especially with regard to Abdul Khalid as a form of damage control, by stating that if the latter remained in his post, PR would lose in the next general election.
The former Utusan Malaysia group editor had earlier hoped that the “Khalid Move” will highlight the similar moral values between PAS and Umno as well as increase the opportunity for the two parties to work together.
“Not necessarily on Malay and Muslim issues, but on grounds of morality and integrity of Malaysians of various race and religions.”
To date, PAS has backed Abdul Khalid to remain as the MB.
