(Next in line is finishing up gift work for Jedi ^.~ and then redoing Kaidan’s image from chapter 3)
Yatterings about the process and whatnot under the cut.
Today’s work progress shot.Have to call it a day because I can no longer flex my fingers and this is hell.
Hair hell.
Why curly? Why did I want curly? Painting curly hair makes me want to sob. Make it stop. T_T TOO MUCH HAIR.
Did some more work on Pashera’s portrait. Figured I’d show the steps (and maybe horrify you a little? Maybe it’s just me but Stage 2 is always a little scary in the beginning.) It’s not really a tutorial- just a look into the ‘process’
Step 1 - base work. Sometimes I have a sketch and sometimes I have nothing but a series of reference images.
Step 2- block out the light/dark sections and get the base form in.
Step 3- blend... blend... blend
Step 4- blend and begin details.
Step 5- more of the same.
Step 6- details and adjustments. Now If something is ‘off’ I will use the liquify tool to carefully and slowly adjust and reposition it OR I will simply repaint it. Like I did for the lips because I wasn’t loving the first try.... they still need some tweaking but I am much happier with them.) So... it’s not done obviously but it’s getting there. Slowly. My biggest secret is just stepping back from it for a while. A lot of ‘errors’ can be seen if you stop staring intently at it for a while. (^.~ sort of like watching water boil. right?)
