#DidYouKnow that General George Washington used the @DeyMansion in Wayne, #NewJersey as one of his headquarters during the #AmericanRevoluion? The Dey Mansion was built between 1740 and 1750 by Dirck Dey, a Dutch-born planter. It was used as Washington’s headquarters for a week in July 1780 and again between October and November 1780. In family correspondence, the home was referred to as Bloomsburg Manor. General Washington referred to it as "Head Quarters, Pracaness [Preakness]". The home was acquired and restored by the Passaic County Park Commission between 1930 and 1934. It was rededicated in February 2016 after an extensive four year restoration project. Today, it is a @passaiccountynj #museum and open to the public regularly for tours. It is also part of the Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #archi_ologie #architecture #oldhouselove #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #ushistory #americanhistory #explorenj #jerseycollective #wayne #waynenj #journeythroughjersey #georgewashington #washingtonsheadquarters #deymansion #americanrevolution #housemuseum #passaiccounty #preakness (at Dey Mansion) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl9SdlHBgsl/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1bs56jhccdf9w
