I know. He was trying to insult them by calling them “a bunch of jerks” and they went and turned it into a marketing campaign put it on fucking put it on a shirt (that they sold a fuck ton of in just a few days) AND projected it onto the ice at a home game. It’s a sort of: “What you thought insulting us on air would make us stop? Get fucked.” thing.

So the Bruins signed Halak for $2.75 million a year for two years. The Stars signed Doby for $2.5 million a year for two years. Why didn't the Bruins just re sign Doby? And how do you think Halak will do with us?
I saw an interesting tweet about this topic today that said that after taxes, Dobby actually makes more than Halak does (it’s part of the reason why Radulov signed in Dallas instead of Montreal last year even though Montreal offered him the same amount and term). So my guess (and the person who made the tweet) is that Dobby had asked for more than the $2.75 Million that Halak is going to make.
As for Halak I hope he plays well. He tends to be a little inconsistent at times and last season he was one of the worst goalies in the league statistically, so I’m a little worried about that. I just hope he’s a better backup than he is a starter.
Do you think the Bruins will re sign Doby?
Given the Bruins goalie situation at the AHL and ECHL level I think they’ll probably resign him for at least another year. The Bruins currently only have one goalie at the AHL level, Zane McIntyre. Providence’s second goalie, Jordan Binnington, is on loan from the Blues’ organization, (at the AHL level, teams have the option of loaning extra goalies to other AHL teams and because the Chicago Wolves are the affiliate of 2 NHL teams they currently have 4 goalies, three with the Wolves and Binnington being loaned to Providence). Zane’s under contract for another season after this one, but his stats have taken a step back from his insane 21-6-2, 2.03 GAA and .930 sv% run last season (he had points in 16 straight games and recorded 11 straight wins). His stats aren’t bad he’s 15-9-3 with a 2.69 GAA and a .905 sv%, he had a rough start this season but posted back-to-back shutouts two weekends ago (I was supposed to go to one of those games but couldn’t get the night off...)
At the ECHL level the Bruins have Matt Ginn (who is out for the season with an injury but I’m not sure if he has a contract with the Bruins or not) and Dan Vladar (who could very well be Providence’s backup next season unless they pick someone up during the off season). But Vldar’s stats are the AHL aren’t bad at all, in 10 games played he has a 5-1-2 record (4-0-2 last season, 1-1-0 this season) 20 goals allowed (17 last season, 3 this season), a collective 2.00 GAA, and a .927 save percentage with one shutout. So there’s a good chance we’ll see him in Providence next season. At the junior level they have an 18 year old named Kyle Keyser (who I want to say is with the Oshawa Generals(...?) in the OHL). However there’s no way of knowing if he’s going to move to either Providence’s ECHL affiliate or if he’s going to stay in the OHL next season.
But as it stands right now, the Bruins as an organization are currently short a goalie and it honestly wouldn’t hurt if they were to resign Dobby for another season. At least with their current situation, it makes way more sense to resign him rather than take a chance on a free agent come the off-season.
Ok so we live in Edmonton. Just for shits and giggles my Dad and I will listen to this Oilers show on the radio. SO MANY Oilers fans will phone in and complain about Chia Pet and how he's ruining the team. Me and my Dad just laugh because we literally told everyone how bad Chia fucked up the Bruins and he's literally doing the exact same thing now to Edmonton.
I find it absolutely bonkers and hysterical that he was nominated for GM of the year simply because he inherited the first over all pick and didn’t fuck it up. But aside from that the rest of his decisions have been YIKES. Like trading Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle then announcing, months after the Eberle trade, that he was desperately looking for high scoring wingers. That Lucic contract is going to be an utter disaster in a few years especially with his full-term no-movement clause (should Chia Pet get sacked before that contract is up, it wouldn’t surprise me if the first thing his replacement GM does is buy it out).
It also probably doesn’t help that he has a bad reputation for making trades that are terrible for his team but great for the team that he trades with. So you know other GMs in the league are going to try to take advantage of that (hell, I know I would do that if I were a GM, regardless of how under-handed it might sound, at the end of the day, it’s a business). So trying to make relatively fair trades is probably extremely difficult for him.
As for his ability to draft players well…here’s my analysis about how good* he is at drafting players beyond the top 5 picks…(* by good I mean horrible)
I mean, he’s basically trying to turn the Oilers into a second-coming of the 2011 Boston Bruins. And it’s failing miserably (because let’s face it, as great as that team was it was a total enigma, even back in 2011). A team that’s put together like the 2011 Bruins will probably never work again in the NHL, the game is too speed and skill based for a big, physical, hard-hitting team to be successful. The only reason why he’s still employed is because he put together a fluke of a Stanley Cup Winning team (looking at that team’s advanced stats…how the FUCK did that actually work out? Aside from the NHL playoffs is where goofy happens). And literally everyone (Chia pet included) is under the impression that he’ll somehow manage to do it again.

@pasta-rask I agree. But they especially need to play better in front of Tuukka, in the first four to five games he played the rest of the team was scoring fewer than 2 goals per game on average average (in his first 4 games they put up an astonishingly low 1.36 goals for average but they put up a 4.90 goals for average in front of Khudobin in the same span.)
It’s like when Tuukka’s in net the Bruins have the “Tuukka will bail us out so we can screw around and play like a bunch of dinguses” mentality. It would be nice to see them drop that attitude... It’s been a running theme for a few years now, the Bruins play better in front of their back up than they play in front of Rask.
