So I finished the storyline for Patch 3.56 - and though it was nice, somehow I feel a little bit underwhelmed. Do not get me wrong: I enjoyed it. It was well written, I like the new character Gosetsu, I rejoice in the returning of spotlight for Yuigiri and Yda has so much grown on me during the last story developments (I had not been a fan of hers).
Somehow I miss the “Whoah!” I did have with the ending of 2.56. This might sound a little bit unfair, because right before Heavensward everything was falling apart, everything seemed hopeless and there was this awesome long cut scene sequence. Also Steps of Faith was just an awesome climax.
But that is what is missing for me. I had hoped for another trial like Steps of Faith. It did not have to be a long cut sequence, but somehow I wished there was a bit more of that.
Yes, the revelation of Yda was cool and also the last stand of Papalymo was truly awesome. So maybe they just preponed that climax. But the result is, me being a little bit “meh” at the end.
I did enjoy the MSQ and it was not bad. But it just had to live up to a difficult legacy with Patch 2.56 so I try to take it as it is and just look forward to the awesome things they forshadowed. Because that is truly done well and there are so much awesome story possibilities.
Not everything can be exceptional. Sometimes things just are good and that is fine. No one can always be exceptional.
We leave for the East! And I am truly looking forward to it!
