BLU Strats: “The Move”
With the release of Patch 5.15 and all the new additions for Blue Mage, I wanted to take a moment to mention one of my favorite things you can do as a BLU. I like to call it “The Move,” but most folks probably know what I’m talking about.
Moon Flute + Toad Oil + Off-Guard/Peculiar Light + Bristle + Self-Destruct
Prior to 5.15, you could do both Off-guard and Peculiar Light I think. I don’t know if they stacked or not, but I did it anyway. It’s the ultimate spite move. And a method to cheese through some of the fights in the Carnival (as I don’t think 5.15 “fixed” that). Which in and of itself is wonderful.
It’s for when you just don’t want to deal with the song and dance anymore and instead decide to just blow it all up.
There’s a physical version of The Move too, made even better with the addition of Whistle:
Moon Flute + Off-Guard + Whistle + Final Sting
Someone did the numbers and apparently these moves have enough potency to rival their respective LB2s - and that’s before you include the chance to Crit and Direct Hit. And, I’m assuming, you could probably put even more buffs on top of it if you have any non-BLUs on hand like DNC, DRG, and AST.
So, of course, I’m going to be going for a Crit/DH build for Gogon once he’s all squared away.
It might not one-shot the heavier things like Primals or Raid bosses. But there’s something to be said of having the option - at any moment - to do The Move.
(Also I just have fun with BLU in general and having the option to just blow myself up when I’m frustrated - whether it solves the problem or not - is amazing.)
