My Body by Shelley Jackson
This is a very unusual but quite interesting hypertext in which Shelley Jackson uses her own body parts to narrate the story of her life. Each body part has their own stories but in a certain way these separated stories connect; well in fact that’s more than obvious because every part of her body is connected to her, still is quite interesting how she exposes to us the readers her body parts’ stories giving us so many details to make us almost interact with her at those moments. These stories are about the memories of her transition from a girl to a woman and her self-exploration on sexuality, basically going through puberty, this includes the effort she has to do to accept herself as she is and dealing with criticism made by others. Shelley shows us not only her intimate stories and memories, but also drawings of her body. She is exposing herself to us entirely by those drawings and her stories. Since is a hypertext, we have the control of where to start and what path are we taking and by taking different paths (clicking the links), in some occasions, we change the body part and eventually come back to it again or we just keep reading a bunch of stories of the same body part. I think this hypertext is quite interesting and an innovative poetic form of exposing yourself to the world.
