There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.
musical theatre challenge | 1/10 shows: Oliver! “Who will buy this wonderful morning? Such a sky you never did see! Who will tie it up with a ribbon and put it in a box for me?”
What was the old Hamilton reference? (In regards to your great comet duel post)
It was right after Dolokhov says, “Let’s begin! This is child’s play!” Right after that and before the next line, there was a riff on the “Ten Duel Commandments”/Philip’s motif–the little “One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine!” melody. The first time I saw it at ART, my buddy and I kind of turned to each other a little like, “….did they just….?” And Malloy confirmed it on Twitter (and later in the Genius annotations).
I THOUGHT I saw somewhere, before the show opened, that it was still there on Broadway, but it wasn’t there when I saw it in November and it’s obvs not on the cast recording. They may have decided it was a little too on-the-nose when they’re literally right next door to Hamilton.
I am going to miss you so much Hannah, and I truly hope that you are happier offline. All my love.
