NIPT Tests
NIPT, or non-invasive prenatal testing, is a blood test used to screen for certain genetic conditions in the fetus. NIPT is considered more accurate than other screening tests, such as the quad test or first-trimester ultrasound. NIPT can be performed as early as 10 weeks into the pregnancy. The test can identify conditions like Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and Patau syndrome. NIPT is also able to detect chromosomal abnormalities like Turner syndrome and Klinefelter syndrome.
