April Book Reviews: Path of Fate by Diana Francis

Picked up this book from the library since it looked interesting. Reisil is just settling in to her life as the healer for her village. Which is unfortunate, because the Goddess is about to pick her as a special agent with a companion animal (ahalad-kaaslane) in order to thwart a kidnapping plot that threatens the fragile new peace treaty.

Overall, this is a fun and tropey read about a Chosen One picked out by the gods with a magic companion hawk thrust into Fantasy Adventures. Not deathless prose, but enjoyable. If you like the tropes, you'll probably like the book, if they make you roll your eyes, it's not for you.

Oh yeah, and also probably not a book for the linguistically minded. All of the proper names are of similar quality to Prescription Medication Reisil.

"Meg, what's wrong?" She asked quietly, taking Meg into her arms. Meg clung tightly to her as she cried, shaking her head. "I'm just scared." She said quietly, between choked sobs and deep breaths. Silence for a moment as Jo contemplated what to say. After a moment of deliberation, Jo gently reached out and raised Meg's teary gaze to meet her own. Jo gazed deep into her eyes, gently stroking her cheek. "Meg," Jo whispered softly, "we have no door." --- I'm just going to fine this little gem of an ending of a Fanfic mentally under, "Why I love this fandom" and "Why I love Jo."
