Bengal prides itself on being the birthplace of Ray, along with Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. At a time when bengali cinema was literally gasping for breath, having been dragged down over two decades to the depths of mediocrity, Rituparno Ghosh came into the scene like a savior. His films revealed rustic realities of the society. Kochi Pathar Jhol is a desired Sunday delicacy in evey Bengali household. Kochi means baby, Patha means goat and jhol is the curry or the stew. Alu or potato is the hero of this stew. Kochi Pathar Jhol with steamed rice is a pure bliss!!!
