What next? [Open letter to A level graduates] Now that you are done with your A levels, you deserve a good break. But what next? The "standard" route... For those with good prelim results, you start to look at the top universities, and the top scholarships. For those with average results, maybe the scholarships are out of reach, but you consider the top university courses... HANG ON. Kor kor just want to offer my 2 cents advice. Consider the path less travelled. I know, I know. Well meaning friends, parents and teachers always advice you to choose the path most travelled. And nothing wrong in that. But what I am saying is this: don't just limit yourself to the "tried and tested" routes. Ask yourselves these questions: 1. What is it that I really, really love to do, assuming that money 💰 is not a problem? 2. What am I really passionate about? A quick summary of my own journey: I loved medicine. Applied for medicine, but didn't get in as I screwed up the interview. Did pharmacy, graduated and practised for 7 years. Took the leap of faith and fired my boss. Became a self employed, doing life coaching and financial advisory. Never regretted the decision... Found my "ikigai" There are many other options you can consider. 1. Choose a less popular course but one you are absolutely passionate about. 2. Take a gap year. Become an intern, do volunteer work...etc 3. Work in your family business For the boys, our nation calls.
