Keeping the Path in Focus.
I've always been visionary. Not always the best at applying what my mind so clearly can see. This morning when I was out running, I had a thought that I wanted to get to a certain place on the path so I could watch the sunrise. I wasn't usually up so early.
It's interesting how, when you set your mind on being somewhere, doing something, and pushing yourself to get there - you can.
While I ran, I could feel my body protesting my effort and my mind wanted to stray - but I set my eyes on the path I was taking and I simply decided: I'm going to get there.
So much of life can be about that. Unless we put a foot on the path and make a decision, it's not going to happen. So many of us get caught imaging the better future, thinking about how wonderful it could be - but never stepping out the door. And if we do, we feel the pain, and let our mind drift to a different, easier path that won't take us where we said we wanted to go.
I think about these things all the time. If you didn't already know, I'm in the business of path-making right now; and there's sweat dotting the miles behind me.
It was a beautiful morning. And yeah, I saw the sunrise.
