MOVeLOT have announced that their Patlabor Laboratory (Patlabor Lab) attraction in Taihei, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, will now run until 2027 in conjunction with the third theatrical part of "Patlabor Ezy". The attraction was originally meant to shut down towards the end of 2026.
The attraction will reopen Sunday 17 May 2026 with enhanced features and expanded capacity including new effects added to the entrance and opening sequence, a new visual beginning in summer involving using projections onto the Ingram, an addition of second floor seating, and a secret feature scheduled to start sometime around summer.
Originally opening to the public in October 2024, Patlabor Lab gives ticket holders the chance to pilot a full size Ingram AV-X30 torso with movable arms and hands. There are three levels to choose from; the Pilot Plan, where of course you can actually pilot the Ingram, the Factory Manager Plan, where you can get up close to the Ingram and record the operating status on an inspection sheet and check that the manipulation test is being carried out normally, and a Viewing Plan where you can watch proceedings from a distance.
