Yoongi adored Thomas, he really did. And when he was starting to plan how to ask the mutant out, he wanted it to be special but was quickly running out of ideas. That's how he ended up begging Virgil to go out to a haunted house with him while they were downstairs looking at Yoongi's collection of books about the supernatural.
It had always been obvious that Yoongi preferred Virgil out of the 4 traits since Virgil had a darkened aura to him. Which made it easier for Yoongi to talk to him, especially since he was Thomas' anxiety. "I just don't know what to do. I want to make it special and wow him, because he deserves it, but I don't know how." He explained to Virgil as they were walking through the horror house.
