Four Songs by Live served as an introduction to the oft-maligned band. Actually, they were like this at one point, since they became the epitome of all the alternative rock chancers during the 90's for some reason. While I agree they are not on the level of Pearl Jam and their discussions of Indian philosophies can make us laugh, I would still call them one of the better outfits from the post-grunge 'movement'. They visited the more intriguing soundscapes than their colleagues as you can hear on most of their discs, including Mental Jewelry, their LP debut, Four Songs was an EP. One reason for this might lie with their incredible rhythm section, i.e. they could really groove, which a lot of their peers couldn't.
