I would be too choked up to resume the interview, with a runny nose and sore throat as well I would decide not to continue.  My agent would decide not to have more interviews that week.  The station would have filmed the interview and spread it far and wide, so that in just a few hours my publicist would call me to post a reply about my condition.  Since the station would be talking about my visit at every break from the music, spreading increasingly wild rumors they would be given the tweet 10 minutes before the public and be first to quote me on air.  Patrick Haines hosts the station 7 to midnight and would get the honor about 10:45.

Haines: Welcome back to the Patrick Haines Show.  As most of you know by now entertainer Phil Cole was here earlier today on the Gabby Show.  They chatted about a lot of things, the late President George Bush, the California wildfires, Phil’s charity work, and when they touched on the illness of Kenny Rogers and his duet a few years back with the late Natalie Cole-no relation-he got choked up and had to exit the station.  Since then our video of the interview has gone viral.  You can see it all on our website and podcast.  Anyway Phil has now sent a reply to the many well-wishers.  I get to read it first, an exclusive 2-word reply describing Phil’s medical condition.  Here it is and I’m holding it up for the camera:

PBC: Swamp flu.

Haines: I’m sure some people will read a lot into that, but I’ll leave it there and get back to the music.
