To mark the start of the Lebanese conflict, Beirut Center of Photography (BCP) presented an evening of documentary films and discussions, exploring the lives and work of three of Lebanon’s most prominent photojournalists.
When the civil war erupted in Lebanon, 3 young Lebanese grabbed their cameras and started taking pictures of the destruction and death taking place around them. Forty two years later, Georges Azar, Aline Manoukian and Patrick Baz share their personal stories through 3 remarkable documentary films: Beirut Photographer, directed by Georges Azar, and Under My Skin and Recollections, directed by Christina Foerch Saab. The films were screened to a packed crowd at Station Beirut, followed by a dialogue session with George, Patrick, Aline, and Christina.
In Beirut Photographer, George Azar goes in search of the people he captured in his images almost two decades ago.
In Under My Skin, Patrick Baz explores his addiction to war and to his camera, and in Recollections, Aline Manoukian and her son Sevag reminisce about a lifetime of war and exile.
