}=Glub glub I need matesprit kissies.*>
Paubos's ancestor, Salaster, was a lively fellow, very literary, known as the Vagabond, who recorded a lot of what happened around him in journals that he left scattered all over Alternia. When he finished one, he'd bury it or hide it for future generations to find. But he wasn't a very forward thinker, very rash, so many of the journals were lost, or rotted away in thoughtless hiding places.
His record-keeping got Salaster in trouble more often than not, but he had a knack for escaping dire situations that his descendent would also inherit.
He'd have to be impervious to pain, having Aciona as a matesprit. She's a tough gal. Prone to tempers. A lot stronger than him. Not that she'd hurt him now, he's sure about that.
It's why they work together so well, you know: his unending calmness and Aciona's overemotional tendencies. Nice couple of peas there in that little red pod.
He may block out the rest of the world when he works, but he's always tuned in when Aciona really needs him.
And then we have Paubos.
Scientifically inclined, genius-level, inventive, mathematician. Second lowest blood, matesprits with a seadweller. Classic tragedy. Cougerdad doesn't like Aciona all that much because she attacked Paubos, just like he predicted she would, upon their second or third meeting. He was quiet pleased with himself even as he bled out on the beach from a minor head wound. Maybe she liked his doesn't-give-a-shit attitude, I'm not sure, but don't get it twisted. It may seem like Aciona adores Paubos more than he adores her, but that's very, very wrong. He just thinks on a very Sheldon Cooper level, but without the asshole.
Paubos gets so wrapped up in numbers that he often forgets to eat, which Cougerdad used to swat him away from the desk to remind his dumb ward to go eat something, but Aciona's taken over that role. (Probably another reason Cougerdad doesn't like Aciona that much. Not that Cougerdad is around all the time. He's a male feline, what do you expect. Hell, I'm pretty sure Cougerdad used to bat little Paubos around just to toughen him up, or because Paubos was a pretty damn boring wriggler, which is why Paubos is impervious to pain.)
((incomplete PA System.))
Aciona wrapped herself 'round her matesprit. "No, no--less work right now more kissing." And she claimed Paubos in a kiss. He parted quickly, to catch a tooth.
"Do you have a timer for that?"
"Yes." His reply, and kissed her.
Aciona buys clothes for Paubos and she has him wear them and then takes them so she can wear matesprit clothes.
She's adorable.
I think there's a timeline where Paubos is dying so Aciona takes poison so they could die together.
Did I ever tell you I find Paubos and Aciona fucking adorable?
No?
Well here, let me start spamming your dash...
