Through a clenched jaw, even you can admit; Earth’s atmosphere is much cleaner and more comfortable than any of the colonized planets that you've been to thus far. Of course, this is just your sole opinion. 

From the races picky dietary accommodations that better suit your own lifestyle, to the now almost sacred preservation to their wildlife and woodland areas. Where the native animals run boldly and free while climbing the tallest trees, and digging the deepest burrows to live as they were meant to. The air is lighter here than it is on Alternia or any other base that you’ve settled on temporarily, in a way that that tells you that for a moment- you are allowed to breathe easy.

Hunting is illegal in most parts - unless you are cerulean and above. But any self-respecting troll will see the animals here as weak game. Could you imagine bragging about downing an Earthborn bear? Say goodbye to all of your social credentials, clearly, it wasn’t in use, to begin with. You didn’t come here to hunt, however, you came here with the intent of visiting Meulin and your lusus, so they won’t feel as if you’ve completely abandoned them.

Which regretfully, at times, you feel that you have.

You made a mental note that you do not have much time here on Earth, as the Overseer had been very clear in his statement that the Midasvra would only be docking in the NX-11 for forty-eight hours. Which translates to one cycle exactly in the stations time - two days on Earth - and your stay will only be limited to one to be on the safe side. Giving you enough time to purchase shared rations for both you and Nitram, as well as spend more time with a certain Beforan.

Having hastily messaged Meulin of your impending but limited arrival beforehand, the two of you made speedy arrangements to fulfill an activity on both of your proverbial list of things to do before either of your unexpected ends;

Archery.

At first, it had rubbed you wrong, just how quickly Aurthour had taken a liking to Meulin and vice-versa. There wouldn’t be a time that you didn’t hear either of them lingering in the background during your transmissions. 

Not wanting to say that you were jealous, no, what kind of self-respecting blueblood would be jealous over a troll finding comfort in another lusus- after losing her own? It’d be trivial, childish even, not worthy to even turn your cartilaginous nub at. Yet the thought alone was still enough to turn your mood into something sour that lingered in your throat. Like aged milk. But time heals all wounds, even the ones you do not want to exactly touch upon.

Something good did come out of this, however, as Meulin was able to learn from Authour and become a self-respecting troll that you didn’t feel sorry for. Platonically, of course. He’d introduced her to the arts, literature, language, history and even a sport that not even you have yet to conquer. You couldn’t help but feel proud, and all the worries and concerns you once held close to your pusher then melted away all at once. Pooling in your chest like liquid pride.

You’d hate to see all the progress and hard work they both put in to go to waste. A thought flashes through your mind, a clown that is all tooth and no substance in his smile, and a look of dissatisfaction tugs at your features.

Using the towel draped securely around your neck, you dab off the sweat sliding down your temple. A message of confirmation from Meulin sounds the ringtone of your palmhusk, but there is no need to fish it from depths of your gym bag. You can already take a gander through your visors- a prototype that you’re just now getting around to giving a test run. 

Cooly, you take a seat on a stack of barrel hay. Surprisingly it handles your weight pretty well. Another good thing about Earth is that renting out private areas such as Archery Ranges were easy to do- even if just for a little while. So you wait, patiently, for Meulin to arrive on the scene so that the two of you can get started on this bonding activity.
