Jenna straight up posting “<3 Peter Capaldi I love you <3″ with absolutely no regard for my feelings whatsoever is chaotic as hell
Peter Capaldi has given so much more to Doctor Who than its audience will ever deserve. he’s been such a gift, such a generous, loving, dedicated gift. it breaks my heart that there are people who still insist on spouting the same bullshit today that they did back when it was revealed he would be the Twelfth Doctor, so I would like to share some love.
I watched a bad quality livestream that night, and I had no idea who Peter was, but the moment he walked on stage and smiled that bright and beautiful mad-scientist-esque smile of his, I instantly knew I would love him. and I did, I do. both for who he is as a person and how he portrayed the Doctor.
I made it through the two hardest years of my life by watching Twelve and Clara run around in the TARDIS. they kept me grounded, their stories gave me hope. I found something in Twelve that I hadn’t in any other Doctor before him. you know how the companion is always set to be the character we’re supposed to relate to? the human element, if you will. it was the opposite for me, with Twelve. I saw myself in him. I saw myself in the way he anxiously stumbled over his words, in the effort it took him to express his feelings, in his heartbreaking self-hatred, in the way he cared so much he had to pretend he didn’t at all. Peter (and Steven) gave me a Doctor, a mighty immortal hero who could bend the laws of the universe to his will, that I could relate to. sometimes I still find it hard to believe. and besides that, he made me laugh. God, he really did, the angry owl with the cutest curly grey floof in the universe. he amused me, he gave me something to look forward to. in watching his journey towards becoming a better version of himself with Clara’s help, I was inspired to try and do the same.
look, I don’t wanna get too sappy and my thoughts aren’t well-ordered – I’m an emotional jumbled mess right now. but. what I’m trying to say is, Twelve is so important to me that it’s beyond what I can adequately put into words, and I know he couldn’t have been this amazing if it weren’t for the wonderful man who breathed life into the script.
thank you, Peter. I had the privilege to watch you at one of the panels at the Doctor Who Festival last year, and you met all of my expectations and more. you carried yourself and Twelve with so much grace and love and compassion, you were kind towards everyone, you inspired me. thank you, thank you, thank you. here’s to a successful last series.
Just a little info on Capaldi's outfit from the beginning of Series 9
my best friend thinks Peter looks “a bit scary” and “Yuri I know you have a thing for ~older~ people but he’s 57 this is getting too far”
Bono you don’t understand
Doctor Who got more done in two episodes than Supernatural did in 7 seasons
