Quite often I get asked...Why do you stay up so late? You need to get some sleep! Or, you have to live too...Now, while there is a level of truth to that, and sleep and balance is important...let me RIFF on a few key things in response to those comments, from people who actually mean well. 1st: Entrepreneurs don’t live by the status quo playbook and true entrepreneurs never will. While modern society paints entrepreneurship as a “glamorous” thing to do, in all reality, it’s a FU**** GRIND. Which is why most go face-up who attempt it, crawl back to the security of their 9-5 because it’s safe or make empty excuses to please their ego, saying things like, “It’s not the right time or I’m still thinking about it, or 100,000 other variations of excuses that they will most likely never execute on. You see, what separates REAL entrepreneurs, REAL hustlers, etc - is the level of obsession to create a life we want, on our own TERMS. We would rather sacrifice several years eating SHIT then to place our valuable time, thoughts, creativity and livelihood in the hands of corporate America, higher-education or the status-quo PLAYBOOK. So, while I appreciate the well-meaning comments, while you’re busy having happy hour for the 4th weekend in a row with your friends, binging on shows on Amazon Prime or complaining about how hard you have it at your job...#entrepreneurs are sacrificing several years or 80 hours a week, to avoid working 40 hours a week for the rest of our lives.
