It was only supposed to be a drink.
She convinced herself, lied to herself, it wouldn't do much harm.
Nothing could really compare to the bittersweet taste of alcohol..
truthfully, the taste wasn't the best in the world, it was just, familiar.
The effects, on the other hand, Maeve was, in a way thankful for..
she needed to forget, if just for a short period of time.
One side of her head, yelled at her to just drink until daylight.
The other, was obviously rational, yelling at her to go home,
catch up on her much needed sleep, before another long day at work..
contrary to others beliefs, it wasn't common for the woman to drink,
it would only occur within ceremonies, or holiday parties..
& of course, in her own time when something in her mind
would just snap, & pool over with negative thoughts.
A quick blink.
An intake of breath.
Her eyes opened quickly, unaware of where she sat only for a few moments, before remembering, taking in her surroundings.. a groan. Vision still blurry, and body shaking, Maeve sat up, clumsily. Still in the bar. Maybe an hour or two before closing time(?)
If she had the strength, Maeve probably would have scolded herself, right then and there.
‘Ugh, what would Ruiin say about my dumbass behavior..’
‘I’m gonna regret this tomorrow..’
‘I’m so hungry..’
All thoughts seemed to fade for a bit,
as her eyes roamed over to the chairs beside her.
A figure, wearing some pretty odd clothing,
or was Maeve just imagining it??
It had been a while since she’d gotten drunk..
she hadn’t even noticed she had been staring for quite a while.
A question wanting to make it’s way out,
but only coming out as a slightly incoherent mumble.
