IT STARTS as a prickle at the back of his neck---
the feeling of being watched is an OMINOUS sensation, causing the soldier’s actions to SLOW as he scans the shelf before him. despite there being reason to be so, he wouldn’t consider himself PARANOID, instincts too well-honed for the discomforting feeling to be borne of NOTHING.
so, slowed actions come to halt altogether, and moving only his eyes does he look up--- meeting startlingly familiar gaze from across the short shop aisle.
---only to then instantly look back DOWN.
for some moments there’s no MOVEMENT, not even that of a BREATH. DISBELIEF hides within shielded gaze, expression as blank as the mask tucked into the duffel bag at his back---there’s no way...
tentatively does gaze rise again, and - again caught - he tears away a second time, aggressively grabbing the can of food from the shelf and going to pay ;
A RETREAT if ever there was one, but he’s hardly equipped to deal with faces from his past.

The bar was rather quiet, dimly lit while some of the patrons enjoyed their drinks. She didn’t like dressing up fancy for work, the owner always knew that. But the one time, this’ll be the exception.
The woman took a deep breath before she moved onto the platform with her boots, taking the microphone in hand to prepare herself. At least this part of the job wasn’t that often. All eyes were on her, and those warm, chocolate eyes gazed into the crowd, barely making out a few recognized features. Many were regulars, very few were new. Welp, it was showtime.
“Three thirty in the morning, not a soul in sight. The city's lookin' like a ghost town on a moonless summer night. Raindrops on the windshield, there's a storm movin' in. He's headin' back from somewhere that he never should have been..”
“And the thunder rolls..”
“And the thunder rolls.”

The rain had only begun, a small pitter patter against the cement and upon the buildings. Light enough that he needn’t be in a rush, but looking up at the darkened clouds he could tell that a downpour was coming. Unfortunately, the downpour came sooner than expected. It had been a stranger beside him that had rushed Zenyatta along, using a piece of clothing (he hadn’t determined what in the rush) to shield them both from the rain until they could make it under cover. Looking out from under the awning, Zenyatta was glad he hadn’t continued to take his time. He nodded. ‘I must thank you for your assistance.’

genji hugged onto jesse quickly, squeezing his arms around his middle and burying his face against his chest. hugs from jesse were always the best!
‘how STRANGE. i don’t understand why anyone would feel the need to-- pardon the wordplay-- doctor the file.’ furrowing her eyebrows together in thought, she tapped her PEN against her lips. ‘can you tell me what you told them?’

Despite her best efforts at keeping a stony expression, Angela's face melted into a poorly concealed smile.
"Of course I am tired. I have the likes of you to keep me busy."
The sharpness of her banter perhaps could cut, but her intention was not terribly cruel. She breathed a sigh and let her smile grow.
"I have been making progress with my research. I can't stand to leave it when I feel I'm so close to a breakthrough, so in truth I have not been sleeping."
