Top 5 Favorite

• Cotorra Springs/Dakota River Valley - Geothermal hot springs are gorgeous, I was convinced the ones at Cotorra were the kind that could kill you if you swam in them, but I’ve since learned they’re not lmao. Also that hugeee valley nearby that the Dakota River runs through with the grey sheer cliffs and rope bridges? I don’t think it has a proper name, it’s just vast and beautiful.

• Strawberry/Big Valley - Strawberry is my favorite town, there’s really not much here that’s useful, but design wise it is whimsical and so pretty. And how can you not like Big Valley? The flowers, big open sky, and mountains are wonderful.

• Tall Trees - I know they try to sell this place as being spooky and dangerous, but I LOVE tall trees, it’s beautiful! I love how tall the trees are (lmao) and all the animals, and the way the light filters down. Also one of my favorite areas in rdr1, I loved the snow here, chasing a bear around with a knife in tall trees remains one of my fondest memories from that game.

• Ambarino - The snow further north is gorgeous, it’s a shame there’s nothing much to do up there, with very few story missions that take place there. And the flower field? The first time I stumbled across it I was in awe.

• Roanoke Ridge - Another place they try to sell as spooky, but it reminds me a lot of the part of Missouri I used to spend my childhood summers at, so it feels so nostalgic to me. Plus one of my favorite ambient tracks plays here.

(Honorable Mentions)

• Great Plains/Heartlands - I know these two aren’t connected or close to each other, but I’m always fond of prairies.

• New Austin Desert - The remade version of this area in rdr2 is stunning and vast, it brings me a lot of nostalgia for the first game, they did a great job recreating it as it was in rdr1, while also making it feel so much bigger.

Top 5 Worst

• Bayou Nwa - I know there is beauty to this place, but the music and atmosphere just fills me with dread, also i keep tripping over gators.

• Rhodes - Everything you own is suddenly dirty and red now. So much bullshit happened here. We lost Sean here! I can’t forgive this place, even if they do have a few poodles.

• Sisika - Hell. Sometimes you just want to catch a legendary catfish and the guards on this prison island don’t like that???

• Beaver Hollow - As a camp it’s just incredibly sad and where the gang falls apart for good. Everyone is so depressed and scared, it hurts to be here. As a base for the Murfree Brood it’s just SUPER creepy.

• Elysium Pool Cave - I’m stretching a little bit here, I don’t fully hate this place, but it is pretty damn creepy. Also I hate that it’s being used to poison the Butcher Creek people, I feel so bad for them

(Dishonorable Mention)

• Annesburg - The guards here suck and everyone is suffering. This is a depressing place.

Top 5 Mysteries (YES I love the mysteries in the game!!)

The Giant Snake/Pleasance - So the other night I watched The Strange Man’s video about it and it’s fascinating (and a lil creepy lol). I basically recommend all that channel’s videos.

The Strange Man - like. he’s so creepy and I love how obviously bothered by him John is (as he should be) in RDR1. And his shack in Bayou Nwa?? With the damn dead alligator under it? And the painting? I love and hate it.

The Emerald Ranch Mystery - where the FUCK is that daughter? What the FUCK happened? I haven’t watched the video yet but it’s on my watch later and most likely I’m gonna end up watching it tonight but I am sad they don’t give Arthur or John an actual mission for ER in game after Hosea drops all that vague lore. I am writing it into one of my stories with my own twist on it but yeah.

The Ghost Train - I love that it’s just. Unexplained like so much of the stuff. Which is fine! But I wanna know if there’s a legend behind it?? Like what happened? It’s neat tho when you first encounter it.

The Vampire of St. Denis - he’s creepy and I love that there’s a specific time you can find him, even though it took me literal irl WEEKS to find him because I kept coming at the wrong time and didn’t know there was a 1 hour window. I thought it was wider than that lol. But he gives you a neat dagger when you kill him. And you can tie him up and terrorize the people with him. I’ve never done that but I love seeing other people do it lol.

26. Guilty Pleasure

I had to really think about this lmao. I guess her only guilty pleasure would be like... starting fights between two random drunk guys in saloons. Like idk if you've ever seen Deadpool but that scene in the first one where he sends a blowjob (the drink) to one guy and says it's from another and then just watches them beat each other up? That's Al sometimes. She doesn't feel too guilty about that too unless the saloon owner or bartender gives her shit for it.

42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?

Al doesn't do a lot of really dumb things, but she has taken spills off of horses for like not paying attention and guiding her horse into a cactus. The desert provides lots of time for self reflection and she can get lost in thought. Sometimes Moonbay is a little too trusting and follows when Al leans to one side too much. She also tends to bite off more than she can chew with some bounties or bar fights sometimes, but her friends will bail her out, or she can get out of it by herself (but always has a few extra injuries that require extra trips to the doc).

48. What was their lowest point? What was their highest point?

Lowest point was definitely losing her family when she was 16 and the year that followed where she basically begged for death & nearly got herself killed multiple times. She talks about it with Charles in The Fields of Belonging but that was. Really bad for her. Her highest I have yet to actually write, but it's basically what TFOB leads up to: realizing that she finally has a place she feels comfortable calling home, and people she can call family (besides just Sadie, who also kinda goes through that same arc, but hers is different).

Just four little buttons that are barely discernible from the rest of the black, bumpy coating

🤔 - If they could have one question answered, what would they ask?

I think Al would go more existential for this, asking God or whatever deities will listen, "Why can't we have another flood or plague or something where all the really shitty people get wiped out? It'd make my life and my job so much easier." She’d probably end up just traveling around for fun, working on a ranch or something every now and then when she got bored.

😎 - When do they feel most confident?

Like most people, when she’s got her favorite outfit on, and when she sees the fear in her bounties’ eyes. Also after a completed job, whether it’s selling her trade goods/moonshine, a bounty, or just helping someone out. She feels good and confident and feels like what she does matters after helping people. Also just like when she does something she knows looks cool. 😂
